A - Z Coaching and Mentoring - This week's extract from Clare Smale's book explores the OSKAR coaching model.
Don't forget if you have a special request for a definition of a coaching term or principle, just let us know! Perfect for anyone studying for an ILM Coaching & Mentoring qualification, or as a refresher for experienced coaches.
Oo
OSKAR coaching model was developed by Mark McKergow and Paul Z Jackson (2006), specifically using the solutions focus approach. ?
- Outcome – the difference the client wants to see as a result of the coaching. ?
- Scaling – where does the client rate themselves now in relation to the outcome, on a scale of 1 to 10. ?
- Know how – what already works or what does the client already know? A solutions focus rather than problem focus. ?
- Affirm and action – the coach affirms the positive qualities of the client and then the client develops their next steps. ?
- Review – at the end of the session seek feedback and summarise - in the next session find out (and build on) what’s working.
