Finite and Infinite Games by James Carse
The book explores the different ways in which we live our lives and I have spent some time thinking about how this applies to my philosophy as an executive coach and supervisor. I was brought up never to write in books of ‘spoil’ them, but for the first time I highlighted key phrases, partly because I found it hard to understand the first time I read it and secondly, to help me remember to return to some of the most though-provoking sections.
American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins
A gripping tale of refugees fleeing Mexico for the USA on La Bestia – a perilous journey on freight trains. Gripping to the end with plenty of twist and turns. An emotional rollercoaster and one of the best novels I’ve read in many years.
The Crawdad’s Sing by Delia Owens
Another great read. Very different, with wonderful emotive descriptions of the North Carolina marshlands. A story about growing up and first loves, plus some adventures and surprises along the way.
